QUESTION WEEK 3
Grade 6
How would you describe a right and/or responsibility in your everyday life as a global citizen?
In your comment describe the right and/or responsibility, describe how it relates to your everyday life and how it is connected to you as a global citizen.
You will need to post a comment and then reflect on another comment this week.
I think 1 right is not be a child slave/labourer. I think this is a right because the child doesn't get the chance to have a semi-normal life, but instead they have to be sold into child labour and spend the other half of the chance of life. When I mean semi-normal life I mean to compare my life to someone in Asia's life, and how they are similar and different from me to them.

My responsibility is to not use my car to much, because the pollution hits the ozone layer. It forms holes in the ozone layer so sun beams can get throw faster and beam harder on the countries close to the equator. Also it makes it harder for them to go out side.
ReplyDeleteMy right is I am able to get a good education,
And not work in dangerous jobs.
Sarah
I have the right to go to school every day when across the world girls just like me can't go to school because one there girls and they think that boys deserve to learn and girls don't or two they only need the girls to not go to school because they need them to work on the farm or in the house.
ReplyDeleteA.
I have a responsibility and the responsibility I have is to keep the earth clean. How? The way I try to be part of the solution NOT the problem is by trying my best to keep the earth clean by buying a stainless steel water bottle instead of buying plastic water bottles and creating pollution. Another way I try my best to keep the earth clean is by using a limited amount of paper and if I for some reason have to throw this piece of paper i don't throw it in the garbage I throw it in the recycling. And I always remember...
ReplyDeletethe 3 R's
Reduse,
Reuse,
Recycle
Lisette<3
My rights range from able to go to school to being born in a free country (freedom). That is a privilege because some children around the especialy girl, they have to walk to get water for their family to use. Also in some countries people think boys deserve to learn and girls don’t. It is also a privilege to have freedom because I can do the things I want to do, not what I am told. Having my freedom means I am not a slave or I am not in child labour.
ReplyDeleteSabrina ;B ;P
My responsibility is trying to save the environment. I can save the environment by using the car less often or I can carpool. By doing that I can create less carbon dioxide which would not thin the ozone layer, many people including me believe that if one person can make a difference together we can make a bigger difference. sabrina;op xp
ReplyDeleteI would describe a right as a privlage in my everyday life as a global citizen because not all people have rights. For example, some people get treated unfairly because of their culture. Also, I would describe a responsibility as a job you should to do. Something you should do to be a good global citizen. For me, one of my responsibility is to respect the enviroment and even if other people litter, I do not because it dosent mean if they do it, I have to do it. CLARA :)
ReplyDeleteMy rights are to have a voice and spaek up for what is right because every body has a right to speak and exprice there feelings.
ReplyDeleteAnother right to be treated equally and not boys go to school and girls stay home and work because every child or person has the right to an education.
Abi :) ;)
My rights are to have shoes to ware, to have a safe home to go to, and being able to drink clean non-toxic water, all these things some people can't do.
ReplyDeleteJacky:)
One of the responsabilities of being a global citizen is not poluting our wonderful environment. Using cars is one way that most of the students in the two classes polute the environment with. It is a easy problem to fix, the first step is getting children and adults more active. If we do that, then the adults or children will give the effort to WALK or RIDE a BICYCLE to the grocery or the corner store.(etc.) Just by walking that can help the environment in so many ways!
ReplyDeleteHope everyone thinks about my advice and maybe gets a chance to walk or bike etc to a store!:o)
Talia :o)
My Responsibilty that I have is to take care of the EARTH and the Enviroment by Reduce Reuse Recycle and start walking instead of of aksing my parents to drive.
ReplyDeleteNIYA:)
A right I have is to have an option to speak in this world without the fear of others judging what I say.
ReplyDeleteKevin
One of the many responsabilities of being a global citizen is being fair to everyone and everything. In other countries many children are not being treated fairly because they are sent to work in factories. Girls and boys from about the age of 5 are sent to work and can't say no because they have to get money to feed their family. We are very lucky to have the right to say yes or no and no matter wich one we choose they won't force us to do what ever the job is they will be fair and support our decitions. Plus we don't need to worrie about food or safty for our familys, but they do. :(
ReplyDeleteAs a global citizen we should not take advantege of our rights.
Talia :o)
I think that one of my rights is that I am allowed to play, and rest. Some kids that work in sweatshops do not get the chance to play or rest, and if the UN Convention Rights of the Child enforced these rights, such things would not happen so much. 250 million children between the ages of 5 and 14 are working. These children do not have a chance to play, and get barely any rest. Also, like Ms.Tavares said today, if you are homeless you would not get to play or rest much, because you wouldn't even know where you would be resting, and you would have no possessions to play with.
ReplyDeleteAURORA
Some of the rights we have is to have a roof over our heads because some people cant afford to have a roof over their heads. Some kids don't even get to go to school and they are forced to work in places which are dangerous. All of us should be grateful that we have homes and we get to go to school.
ReplyDeleteAnthony >:(
I agree with Talia's comment, I am also really glad that we dont have to work to get money for our family and that people are fair. Kids in different countries should have the rights to say no and to stand up for what is right they should have the rights to go to school instead of going to work and making amazing things like carpets,clothes,e.t.c. and theire masters sell them for alot of money and these children are paid nothing basicaly nothing just like IQBAL. I wish that we all would have equal rights.
ReplyDeleteLisette<3
I have the right to have freedom. A Lot of childeren just like me are inslaved to for and help on farms. If I were one of those kids, I would have a rough life andhave no parents and be inslaved to work
ReplyDeleteSolah
one of the rights that i have is that i am able to go outside and play and live in a safe house with clean water that right is important because some kids work in sweat shops and they have no time to go outside and play while other kids don't have a home and they have to walk a long way in bare foot just to get some dirty water for their family to drink. Vincent XP
ReplyDeleteWe should always be responsible for our selves and sometimes for others. One of them is being a global citizen;let's say air pollution. It is one of my biggest concerns of our wonderful environment. There is one easy step to solve this problem;we should ride bikes, walk,or even take the transportation(etc)to near by places.Drive the car less than we wouldn't be polluting the air as much.I just wanted to ask,but if anybody wanted to add on this you can. Aretha :)
ReplyDeletemy responsibility is not to litter. It kills many animals and is also really ugly. No one wants to see a lake full of filth! My right is to be able to play and rest as needed.
ReplyDeleteElisabeth >:)
One right I know about is having freedom to do what we people can do such as I have the right to receive proper education and freedom be to able to laugh and speak out loud any time. Some countries child lever is legal and the children begin working in fields or factors at a young age to help support they're family's.
ReplyDeleteJennifer(6) 308 ;)
One of my right is freedom because not all children and people have freedoom. For example, Iqbal had no freedom and has to make carpets all day in a factory kneelidg. While he was makeing carpets, other children in other countries were learning and getting thier education. Iqbal isn't the only child that has no rights, there are a lot of child labour in the world so I hope that soon it will stop and everyone will have freedom. CLARA :)
ReplyDeleteOne of my responsiblity is to not use my car that much and try to use other kind of transportation to gets somewhere because it polutes the air. Some other transportation I would use to get to places that are not so far from my house are T.T.C, biking, and walking. Thiis will help not polute the air and take care of the enviroment. CLARA :)
ReplyDeleteone responsibility is to not pollut. Polluting effects our earth in many ways. such as its killing plant, animals and it could also get some one sick. So next time i see litter some where im going to thrownit in the garbage.
ReplyDeleteJahkeem
As a global citezen my responsibilities is to keep our earth green.
ReplyDeletelike using reusable energy like wind electrisity and hydro electrisity. Another way is by mot using a car as main way of transportation we coulg be using the TTC or riding a bike. Also as a global citezen my rights are, like the other day Mrs. Tavares read us a story about rights that every one should be able to be play and to be free and she also told us about a boy she previosly encounterd at an old school she worked at and he was homeless. JR grade 6
As a global citizen my responsibility is to always save electricity and water for example when I am brushing my teeth and I am not using the water then I should turn the tap off. Another way I could save electricity is by forexample if I am not in the room I should turn off the light.
ReplyDeleteLisette<3
My right is to be able to get education. While students like me are learning and getting education, other kids are trying to help their family and theirselves survive by getting water etc. I hope that very soon, everyone will get the right to have education which is including the girls. CLARA :)
ReplyDeleteMy responsibility is to try to co operate with everyone and make peace. This is because if someone trys to get others introuble, that will cause trouble and will make it harder to make peace. I will try to do this responsiblity everywhere whether it is at home or at school. CLARA :)
ReplyDeleteOne of my responsibility is try not to littir because when you are littering it is making the world a bad place to be
ReplyDeleteNIYA:)
my responsibility as a global citizen is to try to use not that much electricity. This connects to being a global citizen because when we use our electricity fossil fuel is used and it pollutes the air. This relates to my everyday life because i use electricity in my everday life and i use alot more then a little.Eric 6
ReplyDeleteAs a global citezen i should be recycling more then throwing things that need to be recycled in the garbage. Also i can help by turnig the lights off and useing less water.
ReplyDeleteAs a global citezen i should be recycling more then throwing things that need to be recycled in the garbage. Also i can help by turnig the lights off and useing less water.
ReplyDeleteTimothy
As a global citizen, I think one of my responsiblilty is to use the 3 R's which are reuse, reduce and recycle. This will help the earth because there won't be that much garbage since other people and I are reuseing things instead of throwing them out, reducing our garbage and buying things that don't create much garbage and recycling where companys can use those things you recycled again like making pencils because some things from the store say made from recycled paper. CLARA :)
ReplyDeleteAs a global citizen I have use the Three Rs more often. Reuse, Reduce and Recycle more often. I can use reuseable container so that can create less garbage.
ReplyDeleteSABRINA ;OX
I agree with Elisabeth's comment, that we have a responsibility to keep our city clean. If everybody decided to just litter everywhere, how long do you think it would take to cover the entire planet?? Maybe it would take a little while, but eventually we would be stuck underneath piles of garbage and filth. That in itself is completely disgusting. The world is not a personal dump disposal, it is a thing that supports our life, so why are we trying to turn it into a trash can??? That is like throwing garbage at the nurse in the hospital when you're sick!! It is silly. Try not to litter, respect your responsibilities as a global citizen, and at least our planet will stay a little bit greener on the other side of the fence.
ReplyDeleteAurora
Every person in the world should have the right to enough food to survive and be healthy. The only problem is millions of people are starving and don’t have enough food to eat. This world is so rich that everyone should have enough food. I helped organize Halloween for hunger to raise canned foods for homeless and hungry people in Toronto. We need to do more to raise awareness about hunger the millions of people who don’t have enough food. Jacob
ReplyDeleteI agree with Sabrina's comment and how the 3Rs are important and that we should all have the right to use them.
ReplyDeleteKevin
I agree with Jacob. One right that I have is that I have food and water. I am thankful for this because I know that other people in the world don't have food and water and it is really hard to survive when you only have a little to eat everyday so 2 months ago, my school did an intiative called Halloween for Hunger. We raised awarness and collected non parishable food items for people who need it. CLARA :)
ReplyDeleteI agree with Sabrina’s comment also. The 3rs are important. Because all our garbage ends up in a land fill. That is were they dump all the garbage and bury it. So we should use the 3rs to keep our land fills to a minimal
ReplyDeleteSarah :o)
All our land fills in Canada is already filled out. We have to send our garbage to the USA. That causes polution in the air, but it also cause more waste in our world. We are the future generation live in the world and if we don't take care of the world no one can. We are the people that are creating all these garbage/ waste and it is our responsibity to clean up our mess. If we don't clean up our mess our and the generations after would be the ones suffering. We are the livers/polluters and cleaners of the world. To live in this world we have to clean up after out self or everyone.
ReplyDeleteSABRINA XOP
I have the responsibility to not use Febreze because it has chemicals and this polutes the enviroment. If we all work tougether to try to stop pollution we can make a difference for example...
ReplyDelete1- We can try walking to places instead of going by car.if it somewhere far than we can go by bus or ttc because the ttc can bring a whole bunch of people NOT individually so this causes less pollution.
2- Not use so much chemicals to make things smell good or even when doing dusting at home we dont have to use Pledge we can just use a little old pice of material or even a small towel to clean the furniture.
3- Instead of using those Lysol that disenfecting thing we can just use a little bit of vinegar with a piece of cloth.
Lisette<3
I have the right to go to school and have an education. This applies to my daily life because you need to have an education in life because or else life will be really difficult. I personally think that we should all have an education but unfortunately many people actually don't have an education. Now that we actually are able to go to school we should use it to the full. Plus we should always remember that school is not to fight, bully,or to even be talking about things that are not age appropriate.
ReplyDeleteLisette<3
One responsiblity I have is to help my parents out because they have done so much for me. Also, they always work hard for what I want so my responsiblity is to do the same to them. CLARA :)
ReplyDeleteA right that every human and living thing deserves is freedom, a life, happiness, friends that will all ways be by your side through thick and thin or a person that can be trusted. Jennifer 6 308
ReplyDeleteA responsibility we have is to keep the city and planet clean. My friends and I go to the park every Sunday and look for garbage to clean up. Jennifer 308
ReplyDeleteI agree with Jenifer a right that we do have is freedoom ,life, happines and friends.
ReplyDeleteNIYA:)
One right is the right that a child can play and rest.I think this means a kid can go outside have
ReplyDeletefun, play with a friend and come back inside and sleep. This is connected with my life because my parents let me outside to play and after they call me in I can sleep. In other countries some children don`t get to play or sleep that much because they`re forced/needed to work.Lots of children here are very lucky. NOAH:)
My responsibility is to turn off the lights when I am not using it or when I am not in the room. By doing that I could save electricity. In my house I don't use reuseable engry so if I save electricity.
ReplyDeleteSABRINA XOP XOB ;I
One right I think every child should have is to have at least 1 true friend. This is so they are not lonly and they have someone they can play with and trust if there was a last minute situation. CLARA :)
ReplyDeleteAs a global citizen I think we all need to learn to take care of the world, in order to leave it as a healthier, cleaner, and better place for future generations. We have a lot of rights as a citizen of Canada, but we shouldn't take them for granted as a lot of people around the world don't have the same rights as we do.
ReplyDeleteKatie :o)
My right is being able to drink fresh and clean water. Being able to drink fresh water is an right we have as an Canadian citizen. Some people around the world have to drink dirty water that can cause health problems. Some kids around the world have to get dirty water to drink and cook with. By doing that they can not go to school. Also in those countries there might not be any doctors so even if theyh get sick there would be no doctors to look after them. I think we need to be grateful for what we have not what we want.
ReplyDeleteSABRINA ;OP
I have the right to have parents. I am lucky to have parents, There are children in the world who don't have parents because they have died of diseases and crises. If my parents ever get sick, we have the cure.
ReplyDeleteSolah
My right as a child is not suffering violence. During the last decade, two million children have been killed in wars. Another four to five million were disabled and 10 million disturbed. We are lucky that in Canada we have the right not to suffer from violence.
ReplyDeleteWe have the right to make sure no child goes uncared. For Every child deserves a loving home and family. We are lucky that Canada has adoption, foster care, and “replacement family formations” in orphanage settings as a last resort when no other family can be found for abandoned or orphaned children. Siraya.
ReplyDeleteMy right is that I have a chance to go to school and to be educated because in life it would be pretty difficult to find a good job without a good education.
ReplyDeleteTIFFANY
My rights are to go to school and get a education, every kid should get a education and grow up to be the person that i try to be.This relates to my everyday life by going to school. This also relates to being a global citizen because lots of kids are getting education and i'm one of them but some kids aren't and they should get the right to.Eric 6
ReplyDeleteI think our rights as citizens is to be able to keep your own culture with people restpecting it, because we all have different cultures and come from different countries. Another right that I have is to give my opinion and suguestions. This is connected to me as a global citizen because these are my rights that some people don't have the right to do.
ReplyDeleteEmily :D
My right is freedom of speech. This relates to me because I saw on the news a boy from Northern who was suspended because he spoke against how the school was not giving the soccer team any support
ReplyDeleteJacob
I agree with you we do have the freedom of speech. I still don't understand why that kid in Northern wasn't aloud to speak. I believe we live in a free country so I believe he has the right of speech.
ReplyDeleteSABRINA ;OP
My right as a Canadian citizen is to have access to learn. I have this access through my cochlear implants. To make good decisions I need to have access to information. When I make good decisions like reduce, reuse, recycle I am a good global citizen.
ReplyDeleteAnnie
I have the right to speak up for what is right and make a difference in the wordl and feel safe when I go to school
ReplyDeleteYasmine xD
I would like to respond to Solah's comment about parents. We should all be thankful if we have parents. Parents teach us how to be a good global citizen.
ReplyDeleteA
