Grade 5- using the Charter of Rights and Responsibilities as a Guide. How might you describe a right and responsibility as a National Citizen and how does it relate to the Charter.
A right I have as a national citizen is to vote in elections (when I am old enough). It relates to the charter of Rights and Responsibilities because a right to vote, is on the charter. A responsibility that I have as a national citizen is to keep Canada clean by not littering and cleaning up the mess that I make. It relates to the charter of Rights and Responsibilities because keeping Canada clean relates to (on the charter) to take care and protect the enviorment. Eric 5:)
I agree with Eric it is a right to be able to vote in the elections. This is a free country we are living in and if no one fights for who they want us our prime minster than we might us well have a monarchie.
I agree with the person who said that Canada is a free country and that if no one fights for who they want to be the prime minister we might as well have a monarchy or even a dictatorship where no one really chooses the leader. Also the leader might not let anyone have a voice in cert-ain matters and all the countries that rely on Canada to survive like Afganihstan, the person in power might be selfish and not help the countries that rely on Canada. I agree with Eric W. and the person who said somthing about a monarchy. I have the right to vote but so do other people. If I vote ( when I'm older ) but if the side I'm voting on loses the election and someone else wins I DON'T have the right to do what those people did at the summit. It is my responsibilitie to eliminate injustis and peacefully assembull. Another right of mine is "freedom of speech" and "freedom of thought". This is related to the chater ( and printed on it ) so I can say what I want ( and have ) to say and think what I want to think BUT I DON'T have the right to say things I think that will offend or hurt people in any way. I can not be offensive and rude and if I am I should keep it in my head. -Becky ;)
