I thought the message was very powerful, because it was telling me take what you need and not what you want. A line that was really meaningful was "if you have food in your refrigerator clothes in your closet a bed to sleep on and a roof over your head YOUR RICHER THAN 75% OF THE WORLD. Sarah
The sanario would be that there are SO many people in this world that arnt as lucky as us that suffer through life and so few who are very lucky to have such benafits in life.
I think this messeage is about peaople around the world struggling to get Safe water to drink and Education and some and 75% of people in the world do not have any food or some might ot have a family and as a pearson I am luckey for what I have and I am Greatful and I wish the for all thoose people to get safe drinking water a place to live and for some to have a family. NIYA:}
The reflection/connection I am making to this video as a national citizen is that there would probably only be 1-2 Canadians out of the 5 North Americans that there would be, if the world was only made up out of 100 people and you make think oh that's alot of people but, compared to the world's population now, which is roughly 6 billion and if you don't think that's alot look at all the zeros: 6,000,000,000, 9 of them. Imagine being probably one of the only people or the only person in the world that's Canadian 1 or 2 is a pretty small number/numbers compared to 100. The political problem would be there wouldn't be many people that have the ability to sustain the (let's say) the Parliment Building and keep it running and if the few people in that country (Canada) might fight each other - verbally or physically or both - and then they might in spite of other people come to an unfair agreement about who gets this and who gets that they will probably fight again. The economic problem would be there wouldn't be many people to trade with and then the tax collecters would be out of business and then the people working wouldn't get payed fairly because their bosses don't have enough money to pay them fairly. The physical problem would be there would be barely anyone to take care of the land (parks, flowers, trees, etc, etc, etc). The social problem would be that there wouldn't be much people to socialize with or chat with. Another problem is that only one person out of the 100 people would get a college education. Eric 5:)
I agree with Sarah that this is a powerful video to watch. Some people in the world don't even have beds or clothes to wear. Most people that live in tents have diseases like for example: the red ribbon in the video represents aids and we should be happy for what we have. Hannah
As you can see;the message was very powerful."If you have food in your refrigerator, clothes in your closet,a bed to sleep on,and a roof over your head";Well your the lucky one.If you are one of them YOUR RICHER THAN 75% of the world, but the sad part about it is that people are expecting more than they already have.People are not caring about the ones who would do anything to get the things I have listed. And thats what I see within the message.Aretha
I think the sanario would be that MANY people are lucky that we have all the things we need like: a good house to live in, clean water, ect. and all around us there people dying from hiv and being obese ect. and that CAN change if WE just give a litte and not be selfish and just be caring for other people.-Breann
I agree with Emmy when she talked about how we take are things for granted and we think everyone has them but we are really very lucky for getting things like computers and TV's when the majority of the world can not afford to have them.
I thought this message was very powerful because it showed me how our world would be so limited without all the other people. In one part of the video it shows how one person would be homeless I found that very hard to believe and if the world only had one homeless person us as humans would be able to help that one person build a home and get a education. I also found the part when they were talking about the education that only one person out of 1 hundred have an education, that really put that in perspective how many of us have the opportunity to have an education. Overall this whole message was very powerful and meaningful in my eyes.
I think the message of the video is to be happy with what you have because there are a lot of people who live on less than $2 a day, are malnourished or are starving, and there are people who dong get clean water. I think you should be happy with what you have because you have a computer with internet, water, a house, and a bed to use. It also says that if you have all of those things then you are 75 percent richer than the rest of the world.
I think that people are really lucky because we have video games and family, friends and a nice home.I can't believe that if you have a house, food, a bed and a ro of you are richer than 75% of the world. Neal ;d
Looking at this video after the fact I would take all the numbers, and multiply them by 1 000 000 000,that would then tell me what each percentage is on a much larger scale, after I multiply it by 6 to find what it would be for the world since the estimated population of the world is 6 billion. Now you may think that this math and not social studies but if you look at the size of the numbers you would get the sense of how lucky we are comparatively to other people around the world.
I think that this video is very powerful. The first time I watched it, the message of the video didn't really get to me but once I watched it a couple more times, the video got more stronger. I think the message that the video is trying to say is that the world wouldn't be the same if everyone wasn't different. It is good for some people to be different and not all the same because the world would be really boring. CLARA :D
I think that a connection I can make with this video is when I go to buffets. Like Sarah said, I think that the video is telling me to take what you need and not what you want. In buffets, people take so much food and at the end, throwing half of it but you got to think that many people don't have acess to clean water and food to eat. CLARA :D
Wow... your connections to the video are powerful and well thought out. Can't wait to hear the rest of the group. Keep checking back to respond to others comment or to add to your existing post.
I think that the video was powerful but in my mind I think it is telling people that you think you are more rich then you think because if there were only 100 people you would be pretty poor.
The message was very powerful because, like in the video "IF THE WORLD WAS A VILLAGE OF A HUNDRED. What touched me was that evey one expects more than they really need. people should be grateful for what they already have for I can make a connection to this because my brother has a little habbit of leaving the tap on and I think of the children in Africa and other countries. And this is the connection I can make. jr gr 6 :)
What shocked me about this video was that some countries have no accessiabele water in the area, I find this Ecinomic because some of the people don't have any money to buy anything. I find this political because the goverment isn't helping the poor country by creating jobs and wages. But I find this more phycical because they probebly live in hot dry deserts with no accessiable water or food. solah
I agree with Sarah because the most meaningful part to me was when they said "if you have food in your refrigerator, clothes in your closet, a bed to sleep on and a roof over your head YOUR RICHER THAN 75% OF THE WORLD" because I have never thought of that before and I think I take all that I have for granted.
this vido is so so tuching. I was so sad about how i thought it did not relly matter about how other people around the world like how you are 75% recher then other people this vido realy change me as a person. timmy:(
I think that the video is incredibly powerful and moving! I think that it is very remarkable because there would be very few people in each religion, one would be dying from starvation, one would have HIV and that only one would have and education. When they said that only one person out of 100 would have an education that made me really think. Because I know some people who miss school just because they just don’t feel like working. There are several children or even adults in other countries who would love to have a chance to have an education, but people who can afford it take advantage of the privilege. I also really liked the part that said: If you have food in your refrigerator, clothes in your closet, a bed to sleep on, and a roof over your head, YOU ARE RICHER THAN 75% OF THE WORLD I think that this peticular part is very powering! And now like Emily said, I should try harder to not take things for granted.
This video touches my heart because in the video it says 1 would have HIV,14 would be obese,24% would have no electricity out of 100 also 82 would be non-white 18 would be white,33 would be Christians 20 Muslims 13 Hindus 6 Buddhists 2 Atheists 12 non-religious 14 remaining would be from other religions,33 would have no safe clean water 63 would have inadequate sanitation and 18 would be unable to read or write ONLY 1(!!!!)would have a college education and many more this video also not just make me think of all the things I have and other people around the world may not have makes me feel sad to think only 12% will have a computer and only 7% out of 12% have internet. (I hope you think of these things when you look at this video.) (")>Jennifer <(")
One thing it said was that 33 people wouldn't have clean drinking water, which is an economical thing because they probably cannot afford to buy machines that could filter their water for them so that their water would be clean. Also, it is physical because in the place where they live, maybe it is dry, or swampy, with dirty, muddy water, or no water at all. It could be considered social because many people are suffering from having to drink unsafe water from polluted sources, and also because with a group effort and working together as a social community, we could help change that. It is political because governments are not (in some cases) reaching out to help the sick and dying people who have been drinking dirty, poisoned water. I can connect to the video because I own a book called "If the World Were a Village" which is basically the same thing, with the section on religion, and electricity, and safe water etc., and I remember reading it when I was little, and thinking "would I be rich?", and I think that this video pretty much sums it up. I already am richer than 75% of the world, so why should I want to be any richer than I already am? I think we should be thankful for what we have, because if everyone in the world was as lucky as us, everyone would have a roof over their heads, a bed to sleep in, clothing, and food and water every day. This is our goal for the world, and in the world of 7,082,838,571 (according to http://www.ibiblio.org/lunarbin/worldpop) as of today at 12:00am, I think that even though we can make a difference, but we as one make up a very small percentage of the total percentage of people on this earth, and just because we don't get every thing we want, it is highly likely that we eat every day, and I think I was taking some things for granted, like electricity. My parents always leave the water running when they brush their teeth, and sometimes when I walk into the bathroom, the tap is still running even after they have left (even though I will admit I always forget to turn the lights off)! I will try to be more happy with what I have than obsess over what I want, but don't really need. Aurora *emoticon*
I agree with Jennifer, it would be hard to live without computer or internet access, because I wouldn't be able to communicate with my friends who live far away ( Like my friend Maxine, who lives in Germany.) Even if the friend lived just a few hours away, because, most likely I wouldn't have a car if there are only eighteen cars to go drive to see them. A good thing to think about is if there were only 100 people in the entire village, you would probably have more friends considering that you would know everybody pretty easily. Just think about it, if there are roughly 400 students in our school, and a lot of kids know almost everyone, than getting to know all the kids your age would be easy. Aurora *emoticon*
I think at the end when it says, " If you have food in your refrigirator, clothes in your closet, a bed to sleep on and a roof over your head, you are richer that 75% of the world." I think I can really connect to this because some people think that these things are given to you but yeah, they are suppose to be given to you according to the UN convention of Rights of a Child but many people still don't get it. For example, education. Some students in Canada say that they want to skip school because they are so tired but you got to think, there are children in other parts of the world that WANT an education but they can't have it. AND with all the oppertunties Ms. Rambaran and Mrs. Taveres offers in McMurrich, I wouldn't want to MISS A SINGLE DAY OF SCHOOL. For me, I am always so excited to go to school to see what oppertunities are going to show up throughout the day and I am thankful because I know that these things are not given to me, you have to earn it with something that we always say in our class, " TIME ON TASK." CLARA :D
This video is very powerfull in A LOT of ways. First of all, it shows what the world would be like with 100 people. Second it shows who would do what and have what. It really makes you think about how most people have nice things but when you shrink it to 100 only few would have it. Speaking of that the video also showed who out of 100 people who are weak, poor and who make bad choices. Out of a hundred that's a lot of people with these problems and very few without. -Becky :)
I agree with Jenifer because this video touches my heart because it said 1 would have HIV,14 would be obese,24% would have no electricity out of 100 also 82 would be non-white 18 would be white,33 would be Christians 20 Muslims 13 Hindus 6 Buddhists 2 Atheists 12 non-religious 14 remaining would be from other religions,33 would have no safe clean water 63 would have inadequate sanitation and 18 would be unable to read or write ONLY 1 would have a college education and many more this video also not just make me think of all the things I have and other people around the world may not have NIYA:]
I agree with everyone about how POWERFUL the message in the video is. There were several numbers that were shocking to me, such as: 24 would have no electricity, 33 would have NO access to a safe water supply, 63 would have inadequate sanitation, 50 would be malnourished,80 would have substandard housing, and ONE would have a college education. Another thing in the video that I thought was very powerful was at the end when it said, "IF YOU HAVE FOOD IN YOUR REFRIGERATOR, CLOTHES IN YOUR CLOSET, A BED TO SLEEP ON, AND A ROOF OVER YOUR HEAD, YOU ARE RICHER THAN 75% OF THE WORLD."
The video really made me think about how much I REALLY have, and I cannot imagine not being able to have access to a safe water supply, or an education, because I have taken it for granted my whole life. I think anyone who watches this video will make them more aware of this, it certainly made ME more aware, but from now on I think we should be grateful for what we have, and not be upset for what we don't have.
I think that this video is related political because I think compared to other countries we are very lucky in Canada, because in some developing countries they have the problems listed in the video (no access to a safe water supply, inadequate sanitaition, education, etc.)
I think that this video is related to economical because it makes you realize how we have a good standard of living here in Canada, and how we have a good economy. In the video, over half the population would live on less than $2 a day.
I think that this video is related to physical because in some areas the climate issues make it difficult to grow certain crops, and lack of water, where as in Canada we have a lot of natural resources.
I think that this video is related to social because if only 82 people could read and write, the 18 people that couldn't would not be able to for example, write to one another.
Overall I think this video had a truly powerful message to it.
I agree with Clara's last comment we need to start thinking how lucky we are.To have shelter, food and a nice place to sleep.Lots of kids around the world want education that we have but they can't afford it. Eric.P
I liked how you related the video to PEPS Aurora and I totally agree with all your reasons into how they are related to PEPS. I liked how you related it to social and I would like to add to that. Working together with other people as a WE community to make a change is very strong. It makes me very happy and confident because it shows that I am not the only one that wants to make a change, other people want to make a change too and this is how I felt when I was at WE Day or at every Me to We meeting we have. As well, you can not make a change on your own, group co operation is the key. ( Well, that what I think) CLARA :D
i think this video is trying to tell us that that not every one is rich and has as much stuff as us like clean water a nice warm house fresh food etc that is waht i think about this video.
If only 100 people lived in the world how would Martin Luther King have lived in our world. Martin Luther King lived on this world, but most importantly who will run the government. The world would be unstable in a political, social, phisical, and ecnomical ways. William
Niya I thought that your responce on the week 8 question and the way you said that 75 percent of the worlds people dont have food also how you reflected on as you being a person are grateful. jr gr 6 :D
The part in the video that really got my attention was when it said only one person would have an education. It got my attention because I am always glad when I miss a day of school but after I saw that one out of one-hunderd people would have a edcation I am starting to reconsider. I always thought school was a given but now I know it isn't. So when ever I don't want to go to school I am going to think about the millons of kids who dream of going to school but never get to. Jacob$:)
Yes Jacob... isn't it hard to believe that when you miss one day of school, but remembering how lucky you are to have an education;and those who always have the dream to be going to school don't have the chance.Be thankful for what you have.To my opinion this is "POLITICAL" because some developing countries are not as lucky as we are;and for that the problems that has been listed in the video are serious and we need to take note of that. What we have "is" WHAT WE HAVE,we are very LUCKY FOR WHAT WE HAVE!..Aretha
I think this message is powerful because ONLY one person would be able to have a collage education and in Canada mostly EVERYONE has an education so that they can get a good job and in the 100 people world 18 people would not be able to read and write and in Canada everyone gets to learn how to read and write and we are very lucky to be able to have an education because a good education=good job=good life
Another reason that i think this is a powerful message is because in Canada we all have clean water coming out of taps, sinks, fountains E.T.C and in other countries people don't have clean water the have to force their kids to get dirty water so the can support their families we are lucky that we have clean water to drink from unlike other countries.
I think the video had a good message because it shows what some people have and others don't. It also shows where the majority of the people live and the places where fewer people live.Another thing it shows is what some people do and others don't. That is what the video shows if the world had a population of 100
I feel this video has a very strong meaning, If the world only had a population of a hundred people and only one out of a hundred could go to school, that one person would be the lucky one.
This video also made me feel how lucky I am to be able to attend school and to get an education. I agree with Jacob at first I though school was given now I have to rethink that. I also think we are lucky because be have shelter, food and a nice place to live. Te them having food, shelter and clean water is more important than having internet connection, I think we all take food; clean water and shelter for granted and want the internet.
I agree with you Jackson. The video does have a really good message and I'll like to add to yours. It shows that if there were 100 people, some people won't have what others have like ONE PERSON WOULD HAVE A COLLEGE EDUCATION. Also, I think this is telling me to be thankful for what I have and if I can't have something that I want, just say okay because I know that I have so many things that other children don't have. CLARA :D
WOW!!! This video has such a strong meaning it shows how here in Canada we are so lucky because so many people around the world are dying because of malnourishment or starvation meanwhile here sometimes we think that our lives suck just because we dont get something we want meanwhile others are dying for just a glass of clean water. We need to think in others and as Sarah said we are richer than 75% in the world. We are really lucky and as my mom says it doesnt hurt to count your blessings. Lisette<3
This video had a very powerful message to all the people in the world who are ungrateful for everything they have. So many people in other countries are dying of hunger, and we have a full of food. Also if we don't like the food we are eating we just throw it away. We should actually take the time to think about how much other people want that food that . We should think of others instead of ourselves and we are richer than 75% of the world.
This video makes me think about how much I have and how lucky I am that I have a home, food, clothes and family. I mean that stuff we don't need to work for because or parents provide that stuff for us but some people have to work just to survive their life.
I think that this video is trying to say that not everyone has the best health care fresh water food shelter etc. something that I thought was really strong in this video was when it said that everyone lives on $2 every day that’s what I think about this video. Jahkeem
I think this is a sad video because we are much luckier then many of the developing countries who can't even have safe clean water to drink or don't have a stable safe home to get shelter from. This video also makes me feel lucky that I can attend a school and learn while others in the world are working and making little to nothing from many stressful hours of work. The thing that made me feel the worst is that many people in the world don't even have any clean water to drink.
I agree with Emily. It would be really hard to live without a computer because lots of people use that. For e.g. people use wikis on the internet. Neal ;D
I agree with you Emily. It reminds me of how much we have. And how much we throw away. For example when we don’t finish our food and throw it out .Just think of the children who have nothing to eat and live on $1 a day. They starve for that food. Sarah
I agree with you Jahkeem. When the video said some people would live on $2 a day, it really made me think because in Canada, some people think that $2 is so little but in other parts of the world, it's worth a lot. CLARA
I agree with Clara and Jahkeem because here in Canada we are sometimes ungrateful and want more than what we have or what we can afford. This is so true because here in Canada many of us would say that $2 is nothing but think about those in poor countries would only dream of having $2 so we need to be grateful and thankful. Lisette
I also agree with Clara and what she said about that so many kids would just want to go to school but don't have the opportunity to and we that we live in a country that has so many schools we take advantage of it. Every time we feel tired and don't feel like coming to school think about those who wish they could come to school and cant so we need to take advantage of this great opportunity. Lisette
The scentence that made me think the most was "Thirty-thousand children die every day due to hunger and treatable illness." This showed me that we have to be thankfull because we have doctors that are covered by the Government so therby we should be thank full that we have doctors and they can help us with our sicknesses. This showed me that we need to take advantage that we have doctors so we don't ever want to miss an appointment for no reason because in other countries children are dying due to a sickness that is treatable. This also made me think that so many of us throw food away when we dont want it anymore but we should think about those in other countries that die everyday just because they dont have food to eat this includes trying your best not to be picky because if you went to a poor country and gave them that food that you dont like i bet you they will eat it and with delight. We need to think about others before doing things. Lisette
I totally agree with you Listte. When it said "Thirty-thousand children die every day due to hunger and treatable illness." It really made me think about a group I am in called Be the Change. What we do is plan initiatives for the school to raise awarness showing that other children are not as lucky as us and as Lisette said, they don't have docters to keep them healthy. WE DO, and we should be thankful in every way that we can be. CLARA :D
I really love the connection you made Clara about the Be The Change and yeah it is so true that many people aren't aware of how lucky we all are. This whole video is actually a really great video that really ties in with the Be The Change because it is all about how fortunate we are and how thankfull we should be but many aren't. Lisette
I just wanted to make a point it is so true what Nickolai said every time I watch this video it has a deeper meaning to me and I understand it better. Lisette
Being in a situation where you are not going to have the chance to go to school for a strong education, being ill and hungry, not having food or shelter. Those are quite serious things that are going on in some developing countries. The video is telling us a very powerful message, and I think we should all think about it and understand what is going on.Aretha
I also agree with Sarah and Emily because the most meaningful part for me was when it said most people have a bed to sleep on and a roof over but some don't Yasmine XD
I totally understand what you are saying Aretha. Things like not being able to go to school or not having food and shelter are really serious. It is important that everyone in the world should get the same oppertunities as others but sadly, the world is not like that. CLARA :(
I was watching the video today and it made me think how we all wish to have luxurious cars or homes meanwhile these people atually don't have proper sanitation. We don't want to always be looking at what we don't have instead we want to look at what we do. Lisette
The other day I was at the mall and my dad told me that life is beautifull and as he sayd that I remembered this video and how these kids may not be able to say that and I felt sad. This is really interesting because this vidoe can have a really great impact in others. Lisette
I really liked every ones comments. I agree with you Emily because I found that when they said that if you have a bed to sleep on A roof over your head Clothes in your closet And food in you refrigerator
You are richer than 75 % of the world. It had a really strong message. Natasha
I believe this message is powerful because it shows how much people would graduate and im surprised that only one person, can graduate out of a hundred.I believe that if I have food, clothes, shelter, and a bed I am already richer then 75% of the world,so i think what do they have.Do they have food shelter clothes or a bed. Henry
I know I shouldn't be on this page, but Henry it is very surprising that only one person out of a hundred people could graduate.Personally;if I were in a country where they had a rule like that and I were one of those hundred people I will not get to graduate this year and start my first year in middle school.Aretha
I thought the message was very powerful, because it was telling me take what you need and not what you want. A line that was really meaningful was "if you have food in your refrigerator clothes in your closet a bed to sleep on and a roof over your head YOUR RICHER THAN 75% OF THE WORLD.

ReplyDeleteI agree with Sarah that this is a powerful video to watch. Some people in the world don't even have beds or clothes to wear. Most people that live in tents have diseases like for example: the red ribbon in the video represents aids and we should be happy for what we have.

ReplyDeleteI thought this message was very powerful because it showed me how our world would be so limited without all the other people.
ReplyDeleteNatasha:D
I think the message of the video is to be happy with what you have because there are a lot of people who live on less than $2 a day, are malnourished or are starving, and there are people who dong get clean water. I think you should be happy with what you have because you have a computer with internet, water, a house, and a bed to use. It also says that if you have all of those things then you are 75 percent richer than the rest of the world.

I think that people are really lucky because we have video games and family, friends and a nice home.I can't believe that if you have a house, food, a bed and a ro of you are richer than 75% of the world. Neal ;d
ReplyDeleteLooking at this video after the fact I would take all the numbers, and multiply them by 1 000 000 000,that would then tell me what each percentage is on a much larger scale, after I multiply it by 6 to find what it would be for the world since the estimated population of the world is 6 billion. Now you may think that this math and not social studies but if you look at the size of the numbers you would get the sense of how lucky we are comparatively to other people around the world.
ReplyDeleteKevin
I think that this video is very powerful. The first time I watched it, the message of the video didn't really get to me but once I watched it a couple more times, the video got more stronger. I think the message that the video is trying to say is that the world wouldn't be the same if everyone wasn't different. It is good for some people to be different and not all the same because the world would be really boring. CLARA :D
ReplyDeleteI think that a connection I can make with this video is when I go to buffets. Like Sarah said, I think that the video is telling me to take what you need and not what you want. In buffets, people take so much food and at the end, throwing half of it but you got to think that many people don't have acess to clean water and food to eat. CLARA :D
ReplyDeleteWow... your connections to the video are powerful and well thought out. Can't wait to hear the rest of the group. Keep checking back to respond to others comment or to add to your existing post.
ReplyDeleteI think that the video was powerful but in my mind I think it is telling people that you think you are more rich then you think because if there were only 100 people you would be pretty poor.
ReplyDeleteJacky(O)
The message was very powerful because, like in the video "IF THE WORLD WAS A VILLAGE OF A HUNDRED. What touched me was that evey one expects more than they really need. people should be grateful for what they already have for I can make a connection to this because my brother has a little habbit of leaving the tap on and I think of the children in Africa and other countries. And this is the connection I can make. jr gr 6 :)
ReplyDelete!THANKS FOR LETTING US KNOW MS.RAMBARAN!
ReplyDeleteI hope that the rest of the group would participate like what Ms.Rambaran
said.Aretha
What shocked me about this video was that some countries have no accessiabele water in the area, I find this Ecinomic because some of the people don't have any money to buy anything. I find this political because the goverment isn't helping the poor country by creating jobs and wages. But I find this more phycical because they probebly live in hot dry deserts with no accessiable water or food.
ReplyDeletesolah
I agree with Sarah because the most meaningful part to me was when they said "if you have food in your refrigerator, clothes in your closet, a bed to sleep on and a roof over your head YOUR RICHER THAN 75% OF THE WORLD" because I have never thought of that before and I think I take all that I have for granted.
ReplyDeleteEmily :)
this vido is so so tuching. I was so sad about how i thought it did not relly matter about how other people around the world like how you are 75% recher then other people this vido realy change me as a person. timmy:(
ReplyDeleteI think that the video is incredibly powerful and moving!
ReplyDeleteI also really liked the part that said:
If you have food in your refrigerator,
clothes in your closet,
a bed to sleep on,
and a roof over your head,
YOU ARE RICHER THAN 75% OF THE WORLD
I think that this peticular part is very powering!

ReplyDelete(I hope you think of these things when you look at this video.)
(")>Jennifer <(")
ReplyDeleteI agree with Jennifer, it would be hard to live without computer or internet access, because I wouldn't be able to communicate with my friends who live far away ( Like my friend Maxine, who lives in Germany.) Even if the friend lived just a few hours away, because, most likely I wouldn't have a car if there are only eighteen cars to go drive to see them.
ReplyDeleteI think at the end when it says, " If you have food in your refrigirator, clothes in your closet, a bed to sleep on and a roof over your head, you are richer that 75% of the world." I think I can really connect to this because some people think that these things are given to you but yeah, they are suppose to be given to you according to the UN convention of Rights of a Child but many people still don't get it.
ReplyDeleteThis video is very powerfull in A LOT of ways.
ReplyDelete-Becky :)
I agree with Jenifer because this video touches my heart because it said 1 would have HIV,14 would be obese,24% would have no electricity out of 100 also 82 would be non-white 18 would be white,33 would be Christians 20 Muslims 13 Hindus 6 Buddhists 2 Atheists 12 non-religious 14 remaining would be from other religions,33 would have no safe clean water 63 would have inadequate sanitation and 18 would be unable to read or write ONLY 1 would have a college education and many more this video also not just make me think of all the things I have and other people around the world may not have
ReplyDeleteNIYA:]
ReplyDeleteThe video really made me think about how much I REALLY have, and I cannot imagine not being able to have access to a safe water supply, or an education, because I have taken it for granted my whole life.
Katie :o)
I agree with Clara's last comment we need to start thinking how lucky we are.To have shelter, food and a nice place to sleep.Lots of kids around the world want education that we have but they can't afford it.
ReplyDeleteEric.P
I liked how you related the video to PEPS Aurora and I totally agree with all your reasons into how they are related to PEPS. I liked how you related it to social and I would like to add to that. Working together with other people as a WE community to make a change is very strong. It makes me very happy and confident because it shows that I am not the only one that wants to make a change, other people want to make a change too and this is how I felt when I was at WE Day or at every Me to We meeting we have. As well, you can not make a change on your own, group
ReplyDeleteco operation is the key. ( Well, that what I think) CLARA :D
i think this video is trying to tell us that that not every one is rich and has as much stuff as us like clean water a nice warm house fresh food etc that is waht i think about this video.
ReplyDeleteIf only 100 people lived in the world how would Martin Luther King have lived in our world. Martin Luther King lived on this world, but most importantly who will run the government. The world would be unstable in a political, social, phisical, and ecnomical ways. William
ReplyDeleteNiya I thought that your responce on the week 8 question and the way you said that 75 percent of the worlds people dont have food also how you reflected on as you being a person are grateful. jr gr 6 :D
ReplyDeleteThe part in the video that really got my attention was when it said only one person would have an education. Jacob$:)
ReplyDeleteThe part that really got my attention was 2 children will be born and one will die.So that means the population of people will die. Harrison:]
ReplyDeleteYes Jacob...
ReplyDeleteisn't it hard to believe that when you miss one day of school, but remembering how lucky you are to have an education;and those who always have the dream to be going to school don't have the chance.Be thankful for what you have.To my opinion this is "POLITICAL" because some developing countries are not as lucky as we are;and for that the problems that has been listed in the video are serious and we need to take note of that. What we have "is" WHAT WE HAVE,we are very LUCKY FOR WHAT WE HAVE!..Aretha
I think this message is powerful because ONLY one person would be able to have a collage education and in Canada mostly EVERYONE has an education so that they can get a good job and in the 100 people world 18 people would not be able to read and write and in Canada everyone gets to learn how to read and write and we are very lucky to be able to have an education because a good education=good job=good life
ReplyDeleteAnother reason that i think this is a powerful message is because in Canada we all have clean water coming out of taps, sinks, fountains E.T.C and in other countries people don't have clean water the have to force their kids to get dirty water so the can support their families we are lucky that we have clean water to drink from unlike other countries.
ReplyDeleteI think the video had a good message because it shows what some people have and others don't. It also shows where the majority of the people live and the places where fewer people live.Another thing it shows is what some people do and others don't. That is what the video shows if the world had a population of 100
ReplyDeletejackson
I feel this video has a very strong meaning, If the world only had a population of a hundred people and only one out of a hundred could go to school, that one person would be the lucky one.
ReplyDeleteThis video also made me feel how lucky I am to be able to attend school and to get an education. I agree with Jacob at first I though school was given now I have to rethink that. I also think we are lucky because be have shelter, food and a nice place to live. Te them having food, shelter and clean water is more important than having internet connection, I think we all take food; clean water and shelter for granted and want the internet.
SABRINA
I agree with you Jackson. The video does have a really good message and I'll like to add to yours. It shows that if there were 100 people, some people won't have what others have like ONE PERSON WOULD HAVE A COLLEGE EDUCATION. Also, I think this is telling me to be thankful for what I have and if I can't have something that I want, just say okay because I know that I have so many things that other children don't have. CLARA :D
ReplyDeleteWOW!!!
ReplyDeleteThis video has such a strong meaning it shows how here in Canada we are so lucky because so many people around the world are dying because of malnourishment or starvation meanwhile here sometimes we think that our lives suck just because we dont get something we want meanwhile others are dying for just a glass of clean water.
ReplyDeleteAnthony.g -_-
This video makes me think about how much I have and how lucky I am that I have a home, food, clothes and family. I mean that stuff we don't need to work for because or parents provide that stuff for us but some people have to work just to survive their life.
ReplyDeleteEmily =)
I think that this video is trying to say that not everyone has the best health care fresh water food shelter etc. something that I thought was really strong in this video was when it said that everyone lives on $2 every day that’s what I think about this video.
ReplyDeleteJahkeem
I think this is a sad video because we are much luckier then many of the developing countries who can't even have safe clean water to drink or don't have a stable safe home to get shelter from. This video also makes me feel lucky that I can attend a school and learn while others in the world are working and making little to nothing from many stressful hours of work. The thing that made me feel the worst is that many people in the world don't even have any clean water to drink.
ReplyDeleteTiffany
I agree with Emily. It would be really hard to live without a computer because lots of people use that. For e.g. people use wikis on the internet. Neal ;D
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Emily. It reminds me of how much we have. And how much we throw away. For example when we don’t finish our food and throw it out .Just think of the children who have nothing to eat and live on $1 a day. They starve for that food.
ReplyDeleteSarah
I agree with you Jahkeem. When the video said some people would live on $2 a day, it really made me think because in Canada, some people think that $2 is so little but in other parts of the world, it's worth a lot. CLARA
ReplyDeleteI agree with Clara and Jahkeem because here in Canada we are sometimes ungrateful and want more than what we have or what we can afford. This is so true because here in Canada many of us would say that $2 is nothing but think about those in poor countries would only dream of having $2 so we need to be grateful and thankful.
ReplyDeleteLisette
I also agree with Clara and what she said about that so many kids would just want to go to school but don't have the opportunity to and we that we live in a country that has so many schools we take advantage of it. Every time we feel tired and don't feel like coming to school think about those who wish they could come to school and cant so we need to take advantage of this great opportunity.
ReplyDeleteLisette
ReplyDeleteLisette
Every time I watch this video I learn something new. Like how I'm richer than 75% of the world or like how 7 out 100 has internet.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you Listte. CLARA :D
ReplyDeleteI agree wtih you Nickolai. Every time I watch this video, I get a new sentence from the video that is really meaniful. CLARA :D
ReplyDeleteI really love the connection you made Clara about the Be The Change and yeah it is so true that many people aren't aware of how lucky we all are. This whole video is actually a really great video that really ties in with the Be The Change because it is all about how fortunate we are and how thankfull we should be but many aren't.
ReplyDeleteLisette
I just wanted to make a point it is so true what Nickolai said every time I watch this video it has a deeper meaning to me and I understand it better.
ReplyDeleteLisette
Being in a situation where you are not going to have the chance to go to school for a strong education, being ill and hungry, not having food or shelter. Those are quite serious things that are going on in some developing countries. The video is telling us a very powerful message, and I think we should all think about it and understand what is going on.Aretha
ReplyDeleteThanks Lisette. I really appreciate it. CLARA :D
ReplyDeleteI agree with aretha because if you are ill foodless homeless and can`t go to school it would be VERY sad Bailey :P
ReplyDeleteI also agree with Sarah and Emily because the most meaningful part for me was when it said most people have a bed to sleep on and a roof over but some don't
ReplyDeleteYasmine XD
I totally understand what you are saying Aretha. Things like not being able to go to school or not having food and shelter are really serious. It is important that everyone in the world should get the same oppertunities as others but sadly, the world is not like that. CLARA :(
ReplyDeleteI was watching the video today and it made me think how we all wish to have luxurious cars or homes meanwhile these people atually don't have proper sanitation. We don't want to always be looking at what we don't have instead we want to look at what we do.
ReplyDeleteLisette
The other day I was at the mall and my dad told me that life is beautifull and as he sayd that I remembered this video and how these kids may not be able to say that and I felt sad. This is really interesting because this vidoe can have a really great impact in others.
ReplyDeleteLisette
I really liked every ones comments. I agree with you Emily because I found that when they said that if you have
ReplyDeletea bed to sleep on
A roof over your head
Clothes in your closet
And food in you refrigerator
You are richer than 75 % of the world. It had a really strong message.
Natasha
I believe this message is powerful because it shows how much people would graduate and im surprised that only one person, can graduate out of a hundred.I believe that if I have food, clothes, shelter, and a bed I am already richer then 75% of the world,so i think what do they have.Do they have food shelter clothes or a bed. Henry
ReplyDeleteI know I shouldn't be on this page, but Henry it is very surprising that only one person out of a hundred people could graduate.Personally;if I were in a country where they had a rule like that and I were one of those hundred people I will not get to graduate this year and start my first year in middle school.Aretha
